Vocational training has always been a way to build skills especially in blue-collar specialties and wind training is no exception. If you are looking to break into the expanding renewable energy market then the first thing to do is to obtain professional level training.
Wind training, while available, has not spread as quickly as the interest in renewable energy. This means there are only a few programs that are offered which cover training in wind based renewable energy installation. Having a certification from a program, which offers professional, reliable training, is essential.
As with any growing industry, it is important to establish standards of installation. This is what certified training offers. It also offers the advantage of providing wind training in addition to standard installation training that you and competitors may have. This gives an edge that is important for any business that is breaking into the renewable energy market.
There are both commercial and private sectors to consider when looking into the renewable energy market. While commercial interests are usually going to employ a full time staff to handle all maintenance and installation, the private sector however is in even greater need for qualified and certified installation specialists and up until recent years, it was the private sector, which employed most of the renewable energy market.
The biggest problem in obtaining this type of wind training is the fact that the industries demand has exceeded the capabilities of the majority of programs. Most programs out there do not have the funding to provide equipment for students to learn on. This is the biggest hurdle to obtaining the benefit of professional training.
Most training programs do not have the equipment to allow students to train on the actual equipment that might be found on the commercial level. This leaves many students learning only the basics of installation and maintenance.
The private sector has an advantage. Depending on the type of equipment most of the private sector is dealing with a single wind generator or mill and it is designed to power a single location. This means equipment is small and in many cases equipment can be purchased by the home or building owner in a kit. This limits the need for extensive wind training on large generators, turbines or other commercial grade equipment.
As demand grows however, existing training programs are looking into obtaining working pieces of commercial grade equipment and the space necessary to allow students the opportunity to work on commercial grade equipment instead of simply studying on private sector equipment or even base study on theory and diagrams and having to extend wind training into practical application after hiring.
Wind training is essential to ensuring that you have a place in the exciting and growing market of renewable energy services. There are several programs, which offer training with commercial grade and private sector equipment and as the demand grows so does the educational offerings. Now is a great time to get a shoe to this worthwhile and rewarding career path.
