Wind is one of the Earth’s most destructive forces, and we have seen quite a lot of disasters caused by winds. However, being as inventive as we are, us humans have found a way to harness this force, in order to benefit from it. On a global scale, wind power has no real damaging effect on the environment, in the way that all the other energy sources have. Oil, nuclear power, gas, coal, all of these energy sources are known to put quite a dent on our planet’s health. Having the alternative of wind energy is truly a breath of fresh air, because it is practically non-pollutant, so apart from getting our electricity needs met, this type of energy, and green energy sources in general, help the efforts to heal our planet by reducing the smog, acid rain showers, mercury contamination, and many more.

Harnessing the wind has been done since the ancient times, but it all stopped when we switched to oil. Oil was by far cheaper to convert into energy, and since the all the negative effects were not obvious at first, wind energy was put aside. But now, with the prices for oil being as high as they are, and international concern about the health of our planet, and the constant threat of global warming, wind energy has again come to everyone’s attention.

With a price of only 7 cents per MgW, converting the wind’s energy into electricity is rapidly becoming more than just a good alternative, it’s becoming a truly viable alternative. But what does this mean in terms of workforce?, you might ask. Well, the wind energy sector is one of the most stable sectors in these times of global economic instability. And because many of us need some stability in our careers right now, getting a wind education and a wind certification is one of the best ideas right now.

There are two options for those wanting to get a wind education and a wind certification. Anyone interested, can enroll into a 3 or 4 year college from where they come out holding a wind certification or take some wind courses offered by many private companies. Jobs in the wind energy sector are already available in large numbers, and if we take into consideration President Obama’s plans to create more than 5 million jobs over the next decade, then a wind certification is one of the best assets one can have these days. Also, starting salaries in the wind industry average at $10,000. So, the bottom line is this. If you are unsure in regards to your first career, or you are thinking of a career change, then a wind energy career is the best choice to be made right now, so why wait, get your wind education and wind certification and be on your way to a great career.
