A wind institute educated in the precepts of wind technology will teach that the wind is a phenomenon produced by the sun’s uneven heating of the surface of the earth. This surface consists of many different varieties of land and water, making the Earth absorb the sun’s heat at different rates. For example, during the daylight, the air sitting over the land heats up at a quicker pace than the air sitting over the water does. The warm air heated above the land expands and rises, allowing the heavier, cooler air coming over the water to rush in and take its place, thereby creating the movement of the winds. In the night, when there is no sun shining to heat the air, the direction of the wind is reversed when the air cools at a faster rate over the land than over the water. In a similar way, large winds located in the upper atmosphere are created and circle around the world. Since the land near the equator is heated by the sun more than the land found near the North and South Poles. For this reason, wind is deemed a source of renewable energy, so as long as there is sunlight falling on the earth, the wind will continue to blow.

Prospective technicians can get classes from a wind energy institute in a number of ways. Wind power training is being offered in conjunction with more traditional subjects like electrical wiring. Other courses in wind technology are being offered by the manufacturers of specific brands of wind turbines and power generation systems to insure that their products are installed according to factory specifications. These courses also aid the dealer/installer in how to best figure the size of the system needed and where to direct a fixed turbine to insure that it gets the most optimum exposure to wind currents to power the system.

A final possibility to get proper training is to take online courses offered by a green institute. Despite their affiliation with the solar industry, many solar schools do, in fact, teach wind energy training. In addition to online classes in wind training, they schedule hands-on workshops throughout the US to test the participants on practical knowledge of the concepts necessary to be successful in working with wind technology.

More and more business sectors like construction are coming to realize how great a role alternative energy like wind and solar power will play in the coming years. It is likely to be a growth trend that will continue into the foreseeable future. As you can imagine, wind training will result in plenty of job opportunities, particularly as the field of wind technology experiences a deficit in qualified personnel able to install, maintain and repair wind-driven power generation systems.

Boots on the Roof, a leading Renewable Energy training institute, is enrolling students into its Wind Turbine Training classes.

To put it in the simplest way possible, any given wind institute will teach that wind power is the way in which energy derived from the wind is converted using turbines that are pushed by the wind into a more useful form like electricity. Windmills (the old technology we have seen throughout history) use the energy provided by the wind to turn mechanical machinery to do physical kinds of work, like the crushing and milling of grain or the pumping of water up out of a well. Modern technology has turned the movement of turbine blades to be converted into electrical current by using an electrical generator attached to the turbine.

A wind energy institute is interested in teaching individuals the way to design and install wind systems can do things like determining what size and what type of turbine system will be needed to serve the needs of the homeowner or business. Often these systems will consist of the actual wind turbine used to generate the electrical current and either a net metering system so that excess wattage generated can be sold back to others on the local utility’s power grid, or a system of batteries to facilitate storage of what is not immediately needed to power the home. Other components likely would include some sort of hot water system like a tank-less, on-demand system to provide hot water for chores like laundry or showering.

For young adults entering the job market for the first time, or those needing to make a career change due to the present economical downturn, an exciting, new possibility for anyone wanting a green degree is the chance to combine wind technology training with a variety of traditional career fields. There is a growing need for not only engineers who can design the technology necessary to successfully utilize this renewable energy source, but also for those in construction who can find ways to integrate it into older, existing technology and even install and repair the end product once manufactured. Unlike some career paths, there is a good likelihood that the wind power industry will show a steady rate of growth and job security in the future as the ever-growing demand for technicians creates jobs.

Another facet of training as outlined by the curriculum developed at a wind power institute is the ability to provide maintenance for the systems that are being put into place. In the case of wind turbines, unlike in solar systems, there is the need to lubricate and clean the parts which need to move freely to generate power. Educating the consumer how to correctly do this is also important as they can better maintain the system in between inspections by a certified or licensed technician.

Industry experts have reported that there has been a continuous increase in the cost of electricity over the last 20 years. At the root of this increase has been the skyrocketing cost of an ever-dwindling supply on a global basis of fossil fuels. Most people are now just coming to realize that the majority of electricity is generated by burning coal, rather than more eco-friendly methods like hydroelectric power. This use of coal causes untold environmental damage through CO2 and other toxic emissions. In light of these factors, wind energy training will prove to be one way to put those who receive this education on the cutting edge of a whole new technology as people look to find alternative energy sources.

Last year due to economic stimulus credits, it has been reported that Americans installed over half of the world’s number of small, private wind generated electrical systems. Several universities and colleges in North America are finally beginning to answer the need for an education in alternative energy sources by incorporating green subject matter into such disciplines as electrical engineering, environmental engineering, manufacture and architecture. Professionals in these fields are ones who do things like design the wind turbines that generate electrical power, figure out what components need to be incorporated into a wind power system, and figure out how to incorporate this technology into new construction or into older, existing structures as they are remodeled to take advantage of alternative, renewable energy.

For those not necessarily interested in dealing in the more theoretical areas of wind technology, wind turbine training may consist of practical classes which teach how to design, install and repair these newly installed wind-based systems to provide a cheaper, less environmentally damaging means of electrical generation, internal heating, and the ability to heat water for use in private and commercial buildings. This wind power training may not require going to school for a four year degree, but could, instead consist of a combination of training that can last as little as a few weeks, plus hands-on experience gained through workshops or getting practical experience through supervision on an actual job.

In addition to creating openings or any number of engineers, designers, installers and repairmen, wind turbine training will provide a niche for anyone looking to serve as a troubleshooter for the private wind generation systems. The troubleshooter can diagnose any malfunctions or operational problems and help determine if a qualified repair technician needs to be dispatched. This professional can also serve as a teacher who can consult with and educate the consumer on how to best to do simple maintenance on the smaller wind turbine system for optimal performance in between annual or semiannual checks by qualified technicians.

It is clear from the preceding examples that there is definitely a growing demand for experienced and qualified personnel in virtually every area of the wind energy sector.

As the value of renewable energy proliferate and reaches the consciousness of many consumers around the world, it is no wonder why more and more students, professionals and just about everyone grow in their interest of undergoing comprehensive and valuable wind power training that would give them certification for the wind energy sector. This is just a very logical move since alternative energy and the different job opportunities open for qualified professionals are simply overwhelming and rewarding.

What is the impact of wind energy training in the education sector?

It all must start with the different educational system that would help imbibe the concept of green energy use and its indispensable role in the preservation of the environment and its impact in the economic status of the world. Thus, millions of schools and educational institutions are now geared towards the advancement of renewable energy, incorporated in their curriculums and extra-curricular activities.

Furthermore, thousands of global centers and programs are now developing and presenting a lot of training courses in different countries around the world. Nothing is as powerful as inculcating in the minds of the new generation the importance of alternative energy in the world today. The certifications ensured to those who undergo these very salient wind trainings are likewise necessary to increase the manpower specifically scarce in the wind energy sector.

What countries take part in wind training?

Specifically all countries generally participating in the United Nations are aware of the green earth movement endorsed by the government and other branches of authorities in the environment and economy as well. Thus there are roughly 20 participants from different continents such as Australia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Mexico, Philippines, Jamaica, China, Costa Rica and South Africa among others.

Training courses and programs are actually offered and delivered to different countries for awareness, as well as workforce qualifications. To simply coagulate it all, wind training aims to increase not only the knowledge on the importance of wind energy as an alternative source, it also seeks to promote job certifications and thus increase the number of credentialed people in this area of expertise.

What are countries doing to promote wind training?

Wind training and its implementation has been constantly promoted and observed by different countries in the international community, thus in some of the special participants like educational institutions, wind training and other alternative energy are given emphasis in its curriculum.

Furthermore, there are seminars, symposiums, trainings and courses offered in programs that are licensed to give and produce credentialed professionals who will practice and implement the use of wind energy as a source of electricity. In addition, governments are offering special incentives and other benefits to households, individuals and groups or companies who will use free energy as their option to clean living and energy consumption.

Wind energy training takes a great leap in the development and advancement of modern industries and residential areas. It is a remarkable option that is a great benefit both for the consumers and the ecology as well.

A meteorological (met) tower is a tower with instruments attached and designed to collect data at different positions and heights, measuring wind for potential wind development projects. The instruments are placed on 30, 50, 60 and 80 foot meter towers, documenting every critical detail in making a presentation to potential clients or financial institutions for future wind farms. Most landowners and investors will not move forward with a wind energy project with a MET evaluation.

The study of meteorology has never been such an exciting subject with wind power on the rise. Engineering and surveying skills are also great areas to get into when considering a career in wind energy. All of these areas in wind energy training are now in demand, especially with the site analysis. A site analysis takes many factors into consideration. Surface roughness, what the wind is doing relative to the land’s topography, different locations and obstacles all play a part in the assessment of a large wind project.

An entire year’s worth of on-site wind data is necessary to estimate the energy production at a MET tower site. Weekly data inspections and monthly summary reports are generated and compared to different towers set up in several locations for a comparison reading. Other factors contained in a report may include the availability of the land area, land use, location of obstructions, trees deformed by persistent strong winds, accessibility into the site, potential impact on local aesthetics and possible wind monitoring locations.

Maps are created to identify homes, roads and airports within the vicinity of a potential wind farm and are loaded into software systems so that digital elevations can be accurately measured. This also leads the way for software and computer students to shoot for a specific direction in the future endeavors. There is plenty of room for computer expertise in the wind energy and training sector.

Environmental issues will always be a large part of the wind industry with training to include noise by decibel, shadow flicker, zones of visual influence and the visual impact of the complete wind farm. Taking a course in environmental wind training could prepare you for a position such as this. Together with a comprehensive wind energy assessment of the land, a determination can be made as to the viability of commercial wind energy production at a given site.

Types of wind training in the MET tower installation and monitoring includes consulting, design, installation, construction, engineering, project development services, site survey and assessment services, contractor services, maintenance and repair services. There has never been a better time to enter the wind-training field while the concept is still young. As this new source of energy evolves, it will only grow and become more intense and viable. Wouldn’t it be great to be an expert in your field in a few years just as others are wondering where to start?

Wind energy training is the education necessary to take advantage of the power that can be captured by harnessing the movement of the wind. In the simplest terms, wind is just the air in motion. It’s a phenomenon produced by the sun’s uneven heating of the earth’s surface. This surface consists of many different types of land and water, making it absorb the sun’s heat at different rates. As an example, during the daylight, the air sitting over the land heats up at a quicker rate than the air sitting over the water does. The warm air above the land expands and rises, allowing the heavier, cooler air over water to rush in and take its place, thus creating movement of winds. In the night, when there is no sun shining to heat the air, the direction of the winds is reversed when the air cools at a more rapid rate over the land than over the water. In a similar way, large upper atmospheric winds are created and circle around the world because the land near the equator is heated more by the sun than the land near the North and South Poles. For this reason, wind is deemed a source of renewable energy, since as long as there is sunlight falling on the earth, the wind will blow.

Prospective wind energy technicians can get classes in wind training in a number of ways. As the need to meet the shortage of qualified people grows, vocational schools and technical colleges are offering wind energy training programs in conjunction with more traditional subjects like residential and commercial electrical wiring. Other courses in wind training are being offered by manufacturers of specific brands of wind turbines to insure that their products are installed according to factory specifications. These courses also help the dealer/installer to best figure the size of the system needed and where to direct a fixed turbine to insure that it gets the most optimum exposure to wind currents to power the system.

More and more business sectors like construction are coming to realize how great a role alternative energy like wind and solar power will play in the coming years. It is likely to be a growth trend that will continue into the foreseeable future. As you can imagine, wind energy training will result in plenty of job opportunities, particularly as the field of wind technology experiences a deficit in qualified personnel able to install, maintain, and repair wind-driven power generation systems.

A wind analyst is an excellent career to get into. The type of wind energy education required to get into this field is a degree in meteorology, environmental science or engineering with a background in meteorology or fluid mechanics. This may sound like a full plate but there are excellent schools and grants available right now to charge forward. In this area, as a wind analyst, you are able to work in new scientific arenas like wind energy; for instance, having to use a wind map to place wind turbines strategically for farms and ranches in rural areas. You also study wind flow and its effects at wind farm sites, study meteorological data and then estimate output of the wind. Average pay for becoming a wind analyst is $54,000 $75,000 a year.

Becoming a wind development director is another career goal that would be a great move. The qualifications for this position require being an engineer with a great deal of business experience or a businessman with plenty of experience in the wind power industry. A basic job description includes selecting wind farm sites then turning this empty stretch of countryside into a wind farm while staying within a budget. Supervising every aspect of the overall job from beginning to end and seeing the whole process through can be very rewarding. Not to mention the salary—a wind development director makes on average $54 to $75 thousand a year—is not bad at all.

Practically every day you see reports coming out about how non-renewable resources are being used at a frightening rate. Commercials regarding the destruction of land for cheap non-renewable sources can be stopped by simply choosing a renewable source such as wind for your energy needs. As awareness grows, so does the need for wind mills and generators as an increasing number of individuals seek to make use of renewable energy and do their part to live green. With this increased need in windmills and generators there is also an increased need in the employment sector.

The renewable energy market is a growing market within energy service providers but there is also a growing need for qualified individuals to install these pieces of equipment. There may be some questions as to why there is a specific need for people with qualifying wind training. For example, why a regular technical specialist cannot install it? Why does it have to be someone with specific training? Is there a good reason why it is important that the individuals who are looking to break into the renewable energy market have specialized training?

These are good questions and the answers are simple. When you build a hydroelectric plant you have engineers and technical support staff who install everything and determine where the best location is, how much you need and how everything is going to work to provide the most cost effective and efficient set up possible. The same goes for wind generated power.

It is important to have the training to know how to set up a windmill or generator so that it takes advantage of the available wind in the area. This means determining in what direction the windmill or generator should face, how tall it will need to be and in some cases how many. All of this information is necessary for just the placement and construction.

Wind turbine installation training can also involve the actual mechanics of installing the various pieces of equipment. There are a number of different aspects to generators and windmills that require knowledgeable installations specialists. Electrical specialists are needed to install to various components such as batteries and alternators. Lines need to be laid and wired into electrical systems in homes, buildings and transferred stations.

A number of trade school and other educational programs have come into the light to offer wind training courses to individuals who are looking to expand their career opportunities into the exciting field of renewable energy. These programs are designed to show interested individuals how to determine the best position for a wind-powered system, how to make the most of the wind that is available and how to safely install and hook up these systems to a home, a business, or a station. As the demand for renewable energy grows so does the need for qualified technical staff, this market is just getting started making it one of the hottest opportunities in the job industry today and one of the jobs you can count on in the future.
